Association Information

The Australasian University Safety Association (AUSA) has a constitution setting out its aims and principles. In general, the Association exists to:

  • promote exchange of information on health, safety, environment, and related topics between OHS professionals working in universities and allied industries
  • promote uniform approaches to OHS problems in universities and allied industries
  • provide for representation to educational authorities and government bodies for OHS professionals working in universities and allied industries.

Membership

Membership of the Association is open to any employee of an Occupational Health and Safety, Risk Management or similar Unit within an Australasian University or allied industry.  A membership application form is available in both Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat formats. This form should be completed and forwarded to the Association Secretary.

Executive

The Association has a small Executive, consisting of a President, Vice-President, Treasurer and Secretary.  This Executive is elected at the Biennial General Meetings, which are usually held in conjunction with the AUSA OHS Conference every two years.  The Association also elects a New Zealand Liaison Officer and a Communications Officer to manage the mailing list as well as the AUSA web site.  The Office Bearers elected at the 2009 Meeting were:
