The AUSA SA/NT chapter is excited to jointly host, with the Health & Wellbeing SIG, a webinar on Wednesday 28 July 2021 11.00am – 12.00pm Central Standard Time. Prof. Michelle Tuckey, Professor of Work and Organisational Psychology, UniSA: Justice & Society has kindly agreed to present to us on "Workplace Bullying as an Work Health and Safety Issue: An Intervention Framework, Tools, and Evidence".

Description:

This talk will outline an evidence-based framework and tools for addressing workplace bullying as a work health and safety hazard. The focus of Michelle’s approach is on work organisation practices – the ways in which people and tasks are coordinated and managed within the overarching system of work – as a root cause of bullying, which can be assessed and mitigated through risk control measures in the safety risk management cycle.

Bio:

Michelle’s research focuses on designing mentally healthy workplaces that are resistant to workplace bullying and occupational stress. Her research advances the risk management of bullying as a work health and safety hazard, including evidence-based practical tools and interventions to diagnose and minimise the organisational risks for bullying. Michelle’s other research interests relate to creating an organisational climate that supports mental health, promoting high-quality leadership to support well-being at work, and harnessing mindfulness at work. Michelle serves on the editorial board, as guest editor, or reviewer for several international scholarly journals in the field of occupational health psychology. In addition to her academic publications, Michelle’s research has been applied in a range of public and private sector organisations and by work health and safety regulatory bodies nationally and internationally, and was cited in the recent South Australian Parliamentary Inquiry into bullying and fatigue in healthcare
