This event will provide attendees with knowledge about the Safe Work Australia (SWA) Clean Air. Clean Lungs. campaign to raise awareness of occupational lung diseases and inform Australian employers on how to manage the risks in the workplace.
Safe Work Australia (SWA) is the national policy body for work health and safety. The Clean Air. Clear Lungs. campaign is a national campaign to raise awareness of occupational lung diseases - conditions of the respiratory system caused by workplace exposure to hazardous chemicals and dusts. This webinar will:
- describe the role of SWA
- provide an overview of occupational respiratory diseases in Australia
- describe the process of hazard identification, risk assessment, assessing controls and monitoring and review of controls for occupational respiratory diseases
- provide an overview of SWA’s national initiatives to eliminate and minimise the risks of silicosis and silica associated diseases at the workplace
- discuss approaches to minimise the risks of with COVID-19 at the workplace
Speakers
Sam Hamilton is Director of Occupational Diseases and Chemicals Policy at Safe Work Australia. The Occupational Diseases and Chemicals Policy team’s work promotes and supports safe and healthy Australian workplaces by developing national policy and guidance on occupational hygiene, hazardous chemicals and diseases such as COVID-19, silicosis and other occupational respiratory diseases.
