With 9 Years experience in the Workplace Health & Safety sector, and specifically within University environment, I have had the pleasure of working with a large variety of Academic and Professional staff, as well as students, and have been able to provide advice on a variety of research projects containing a range of hazards from ergonomic to radiation and laser safety. I highly value the ability to communicate with like-minded professionals and share our experiences with the aim of improving our service to all involved in the University sector.
Beck Edwards, The Australian National University
Cert IV WHS
Bachelor of Applied Science majoring in Coastal Resource Management
Advanced Diploma Aquatic Resource Management
I have been working at ANU in Work Health and Safety (WHS) since February 2020. I am currently the WHS Manager for the College of Engineering, Computing and Cybernetics (CECC). I joined AUSA in 2020, following the advice of Xin Li. Xin’s enthusiasm for work health and safety is contagious and he has been a great mentor for me. I still miss working with Xin at ANU.
I live in a small town outside of Canberra called Bungendore. I love animals and can often be found with my menagerie at home.
I studied Aquatic Resource management at Central Queensland University in Rockhampton and Coastal Resource Management at Southern Cross University in Lismore, in the mid-90’s. I spent many years working at CSIRO in Canberra before changing careers into Work Health and Safety about 5 years ago. I have a Cert IV and Diploma in WHS.I am interested in Occupational Hygiene, managing psychosocial hazards in the workplace and raising awareness about safety in the workplace.
I look forward to playing a more active role in AUSA sharing information and resources.
