The Australiasian University Safety Association (AUSA) provides connection, education and support to professionals working in health, safety and wellbeing roles within Universities, TAFES and research institutions. 

AUSA is a volunteer-led organisation. All of our operations are managed and activities facilitated by our member volunteers. To ensure we can continue to support the vision and values of AUSA, we need a collection of keen and eager volunteers.

Volunteer Benefits 

You can benefit from volunteering in many ways, including:

  • Elevating your personal profile within the profession of health, safety and wellbeing (HSW) within Australasian Universities and allied industries
  • Meeting new people – extending your professional network and connecting with peers who also want to deliver positive impacts for our sector
  • Providing the opportunity to try different tasks or work that you may not get exposure to in your ordinary role – or – Expanding your professional skill set in a setting that you may not have the chance to experience otherwise.

We are currently inviting nominations from interested and enthusiastic AUSA members to join the Executive and Leadership teams. Voting will take place during the AGM.

Executive Committee Role

  • President of AUSA
  • Secretary of AUSA
  • Treasurer of AUSA

Note on Executive Term Renewal: The current President, Secretary, and Treasurer have completed their initial two-year terms. To ensure governance continuity, maintain strategic momentum on current initiatives, and fulfill ongoing legal requirements under the Associations Incorporation Reform Act 2012 (VIC), the incumbent officers have confirmed they will be standing for renomination. We highly encourage and welcome nominations from any eligible members who wish to contribute to shaping AUSA's strategic direction.

Leadership Roles (Branch Chairs & Special Interest Groups)

These roles play a critical part in advancing cross-institutional collaboration and knowledge sharing, which are central to AUSA’s purpose:

  • Branch Chairs: Victoria & Tasmania | Western Australia | New Zealand | Asia
  • Special Interest Group (SIG) Leads: Boating and Diving | Facilities and Construction | Claims and Injury Management | Safety Systems | Travel Risk and Safety

Support Roles:

We also welcome members to express interest in contributing to support activities, especially in areas such as:

  • Communications and social media
  • Event and conference planning
  • Member support (CRM systems)
  • Website content and management
